A lucky player from Michigan has made history by winning what Lottery officials called the largest Fantasy 5 jackpot in the history of the game. According to the announcement, the player won almost a million after matching all lottery numbers correctly.
For reference, the winning numbers for the June 26 drawing were 04, 05, 08, 22 and 38. The player in question succeeded in matching all five of them, netting them a life-changing $963,040 jackpot prize.
This is notably the largest jackpot Fantasy 5 has ever handed to a player in its 20-year history. Originally launched in 2004, the game has engaged players in Michigan for two decades now. The only time someone came close to winning a $1 million prize was in 2020 when another lucky Fantasy 5 player grabbed a $924,880 Fantasy 5 jackpot after purchasing a ticket online.
The current winner, however, purchased their ticket at a land-based location. According to the Michigan Lottery, the winning ticket was sold at Smoker’s Express, a smoke shop in New Baltimore.
As of the time of this writing, the winner has yet to come forward and claim their prize. Lottery officials asked the lucky player to contact the Lottery’s Player Relations division to schedule an appointment and claim their prize. In the meantime, the player should keep the ticket safe.
Michigan Players Win Big
Speaking of lottery winners in Michigan, a Saginaw County player just hit a stellar $4 million jackpot from a scratch-off ticket. The player won the prize on Tuesday after purchasing a $4,000,000 Ultimate instant game ticket.
The lottery said that the winning ticket was sold at one of the Fastlane Convenience Store properties in Saginaw, although it didn’t specify which.
In the meantime, a Michigan woman recently thought she’d won $1,000 from an instant lottery game. However, when she double-checked, the woman realized that she had actually won $500,000.
The winner purchased the ticket from Ben’s Fresh Market at 6233 Church Street in Cass City.
While winning the jackpot can be a life-changing event, things aren’t always rosy. The winner of a $127,000 progressive blackjack jackpot, for example, was just refused a payout as the casino argued that she was trespassing.
