Last season’s NFC winners are 2-3 in the 2024 NFL, which is really surprising given that San Francisco’s schedule hasn’t been too difficult so far. This is why the 49ers’s fans are probably upset with their boys, but there’s an easy way for them to fall back in love with the team – the Niners just need to start winning again.
They can do it in the Thursday Night Football Game of Week 6 against their NFC West rivals, the Seattle Seahawks. Odds suggest they will pull it off, but what do we think? Keep reading this San Francisco at Seatle preview to find out!

Can the 49ers Rebound from Last Weekend’s Loss?
Kyle Shanahan’s men are 2-3 in the 2024 NFL. Their wins happened in San Francisco, against the New York Jets (32:19) and New England Patriots (30:13). Two of their losses happened on the road – to the Minnesota Vikings (23:17) and Los Angeles Rams (27:24).
Their third loss of the season happened last weekend on their turf. They lost 24:23 to the Arizona Cardinals, despite having a 23:10 lead at halftime. In fact, it was their abysmal performance in the final quarter that cost them the game. They conceded 11 points in the final quarter while scoring zero.
So, who is to blame? Many fans blame the coach, while others think it’s quarterback Brock Purdy who’s responsible for the loss. He threw for two interceptions and just one touchdown. It wasn’t great, but neither did San Francisco’s runners do great.
Without Christian McCaffrey, the Niners’ running game hasn’t been good. Although they do rank high (7th in the NFL) in rushing yards, they’ve only scored four rushing TDs thus far. The bad news is that the RB won’t be back in time for TNF action, meaning that against the Seahawks, the Niners will have to rely primarily on passing.
Seahawks Hoping to End Their 5-Game Losing Run Against the Niners
The Seahawks have a very bad record against the 49ers, at least in recent years. In fact, they lost each of their last five duels. Judging by the NFL odds, they might lose again. One of the reasons why they’re seen as underdogs in the Week 6 TNF game is that they lost their last two games.
After beating the Denver Broncos (26:20), New England Patriots (23:20), and Miami Dolphins (24:3) in the first three weeks, they went on to lose to the Detroit Lions (42:29) and New York Giants (29:20).
In the loss to the Lions, their offense actually did fine, especially KRB Kenneth Walker III who scored three touchdowns. QB Geno Smith also had a fine game, but Seattle’s defense just couldn’t handle Detroit’s incredible offense.
Their second loss of the season happened last weekend when they lost 29:20 to the New York Giants at home. The loss came as a result of a special team blunder. With 23:20 for the Giants, the Seahawks had a chance to equalize with a field goal, but the Giants blocked the shot, and Ford-Wheaton caught the ball. Not only that, but he carried all the way to the opposing end to score his team’s third TD of the game.
The first two were passing TDs, which worsened Seattle’s passing defense numbers. As a result, their average now is 1.2 passing TDs conceded per game. That’s still pretty good actually, placing them in the shared 12th place on the list of the best passing defenses in the NFL. They’re seventh when it comes to opponent passing yards.
49ers vs. Seahawks Prediction
The Seahawks are ready to give their divisional rivals war on Thursday. We’re not sure they can beat the Niners, but we’re certain that they won’t suffer a blowout loss in Week 6. This is why our 49ers vs. Seahawks prediction is Seattle +3.
Pick: Seattle Seahawks +3
